The Bioparc – Valencia
The Bioparc in Valencia is not just any zoo; it’s a unique experience where you can traverse the globe’s most iconic ecosystems. In the fascinating world of the Bioparc in Valencia, nature unveils in all its glory, offering a space where biodiversity conservation is paramount. It’s the perfect place to have a pleasant time with family or friends. Don’t miss the chance to experience this exceptional adventure, come to the Bioparc! You won’t regret it 👍

The elephant you see in the image ⬆ will welcome you at the entrance of the Biopark 🐘. It’s one of the best photo spots in the Bioparc, so don’t hesitate to take a souvenir photo 📸. You are invited to pose behind a sign with the words BIOPARC written on it.

Behind the elephant, there’s the reception where you’ll need to pull out your wallet to enter 💶 There, you’ll be offered a map of the Bioparc, be sure to take it unless you want to get lost 🗺️ Once past the entrance, you’ll see a bridge: you must cross it to reach the zoo.

From this bridge, there are magnificent views of the Cabecera park and the Turia gardens, as well as plenty of photo spots 😉📸

Once you’ve crossed the bridge, your adventure can begin 👍
The Animals
What people appreciate most at the Bioparc is the freedom of the animals. They are not locked in cages, unlike most zoos. They have large spaces all to themselves. These spaces replicate their ecosystem, with large grasslands, sand, rivers, waterfalls… Not only do the animals enjoy these spaces, but they are also beautiful spots 😉

⚠️ When I say the animals are not locked up, I mean they are not in cages, they can run, jump, as they have large spaces all to themselves. Don’t worry, you are safe: either you observe the animals from above (and they can’t reach you), or there are showcases or barriers, everything is secured, there’s nothing to fear 👍
There are really lots of animals in the Bioparc, try counting them during your visit: it’s impossible! The animals are organized according to their ecosystem or the country they come from. In this zoo, there are 4 areas: Madagascar, equatorial jungle, marsh, and savannah.
Madagascar
The Madagascar area is one of the smallest areas but it’s worth the visit. It is located near the entrance of the Bioparc. Upon arriving, you can see plenty of flamingos: the spectacle is incredible 🦩

Once you have spotted the flamingos, it’s easy to know where to go (but in case of doubt, check your map 🗺️). In the Madagascar area, you can also find turtles 🐢 and lemurs.

Equatorial Jungle
As its name suggests, the animals located in the “Equatorial Jungle” area come from the equatorial jungle 😎 In this area, you can find the most important and unmissable spot of the Bioparc: the gorilla zone 🦍
You will see a white building, that’s where you need to enter (in case of doubts, check your map 🗺️). You will arrive in a closed circular space. Instead of walls, there are large windows, through which you can admire the gorillas. Generally, the younger ones play together, there’s an older one often scratching the sand and then, there’s the “Star of the gorillas” 🌟 Alright, I’m probably the only person to call him that 😅 I call him this because he always smiles at the public. Sometimes he even poses for photos 🦍
Here are photos of the star gorilla:

He is often near the visitors, impossible to miss 😉
Other animals that can be found in the equatorial jungle include the red buffaloes:

And many others… I’ll let you discover them 👍
Marsh
If you like animals from wet ecosystems, the marsh area will be perfect for you 👍 It is next to the savannah and the equatorial jungle. Practical detail: in this area, you can find toilets 🚻
In the marsh area, you can see crocodiles 🐊 fish 🐟 pelicans…

Savannah
The savannah area is undoubtedly the largest of the four areas (it’s a real labyrinth, so better check your map 🗺️). Given that it’s the largest area, it’s also the one that houses the most animals 🐘🦒🦓
In the savannah area, you can also find:
- the aviary
- a burrow with lots of small animals
- many baobabs (a tree found in the savannah) for decoration. In the image below, the white arrow shows a baobab ⬇

Here are some savannah animals you shouldn’t miss during your visit:
- Elephants 🐘

- Giraffes 🦒

- Zebras 🦓

- Mongooses

- Rhinoceroses 🦏

The Aviary
Still in the savannah, you will find the Bioparc’s aviary. You can enter and be with the birds! That’s why it’s important not to make sudden movements and not to bother the animals. To enter and exit the aviary, there are a total of 4 doors (2 at the entrance and 2 at the exit). The Bioparc asks you to ensure that the two entrance or exit doors are not open at the same time (to prevent birds from escaping 🐦🐦🐦). In this image, you can see some of the birds from the aviary ⬇️

Practical Points 😎
Meals and Snacks 🍽️
You cannot bring your own food or drinks to the Bioparc, it’s forbidden ⛔ If you’re hungry, the Bioparc offers a restaurant, a cafeteria, and food stands. For more information on where to eat at the Bioparc, you can visit the official website.
Toilets 🚻
There are several toilets at the Bioparc (they are all indicated on the map that you can take at the entrance 🗺️). There are also toilets for wheelchair users 👩🦽, and baby changing areas for the little ones 👶
Conclusion
The Bioparc is a large zoo, perfect for sharing a moment with family, friends, or even alone 👍 The animals have large spaces all to themselves, which replicate their ecosystems. They are grouped into 4 zones: Madagascar, equatorial jungle, marsh, and savannah. The goal of the Bioparc is to show its visitors the importance of protecting the planet and endangered animals, through a unique experience 🐠🦓🐆🦍🐢
